Volume1, published, 1886, volume 2 published, 1887, volume 3, published 1900, with Two Plates. Consists of the Four Chapters published by Mr. Ruskin in 1888-9, together with the two of "Dilecta", hitherto unpublished, but set up in type and revised by Mr. Ruskin is now added, together with a full index to all three volumes and the plate "The Castle of Annency" originally included only in the large paper edition. Uniformly bound in full vellum, with leather title labels, top gilt edges, marble endpapers.

John Ruskin (1819 – 1900) was the leading English art critic of the Victorian era, as well as an art patron, draughtsman, watercolourist, prominent social thinker and philanthropist. He wrote on subjects as varied as geology, architecture, myth, ornithology, literature, education, botany and political economy.
His writing styles and literary forms were equally varied. He produced essays and treatises, poetry and lectures, travel guides and manuals, letters and even a fairy tale. He also made detailed sketches and paintings of rocks, plants, birds, landscapes, and architectural structures and ornamentation.
