Uruaçu meteorite was found in Brazil in 1992 for the first time. In 1994, 2 more masses were found. Since then some smaller pieces have been found. However, the total known weight is pretty small compared to other iron meteorites.
It is an iron meteorite and hence it probably comes from the core of asteroids that were destroyed by impacts with other bodies. It is an alloy of iron-nickel mainly although it contains other trace elements. Due to its characteristics it is classified as an IAB main group iron meteorite.
In this lot, a full slice of Uruaçu is offered for auction. It has a characteristic Widmanstatten pattern with troilite (FeS) inclusions throughout.
Weight: 33,3 grams.
Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.
Packages are usually sent on Friday morning, after the auction. Shipping is combined in all my listings - if you win multiple items, only one shipping cost is paid.
