Nino Raso and Pantelleria, the artist and his land; an indissoluble bond, a weave that finds coherence in the deep message of his works: respect for the environment and social ethics.
His work is based on the reconstruction of luxury icons with materials that tell stories of poverty and suffering, such as the planking wood of the boats of migrants wrecked in the Mediterranean Sea. In this way, he emphasises their fleeting nature and social differences.
It urges the viewer to question the meaning of luxury by creating a palpable tension in his works between charm and rejection, mixing aesthetics and violence.
This work was made with planking wood of the boats of migrants wrecked in the Mediterranean Sea, installed on a brushed opal plexiglass plate with laser print.
