Justus Brouwer - De Porceleijne Bijl - Beurre de Delft néerlandais, couvercle et support (3) - Faïence
Pays-Bas - XVIIIe siècle

A Dutch Delft blue and white butter tub, cover and stand

DESCRIPTION

Both the the tub cover and the stand have a Chinoiserie decor of a lady (long Elisa) in a house or garden sitting at a table with a flower in her hand. In this house or garden, you can also find a large flower pot with a bush or small tree. The plate/stand also shows small flower arrangements on the outer rim.

The butter tub itself portrays the same pretty flowers as found on the stand. The butter tub has a pierced hole in each of its two ears.
The lid has a very beautiful blue knob that resembles the comb of a rooster with a small ball in the middle.

MARKINGS

Created between 1739-1775, the tub and stand marked on the underside in blue with a figurative axe for Justus Brouwer or his widow of factory "De Porceleyne Bijl"(The Porcelain Axe). The tub is marked on the inside with a 3 and on the underside of the cover also with a 3.

PROVENANCE

This has a TOP provenance. This piece was owned by the Swedish Rörstrand Porcelain Factory, founded in 1726. The collection was sold publicly in 1936. Rörstrand Samling sticker with nr 32.

DIMENSIONS

Diameter tub: 11 cm.
Height of tub and cover: 7,5 cm.

CONDITION

In extremely good condition! Of course, some chips, which I would call extremely small.

I am ABSOLUTELY SURE that the handle of the cover is 100% original as it came out of the factory. And it has absolutely never, ever, ever been painted or glued.

In short:
