Bol à boue (1) - Faïence

Description
Bol à boue (1) - Faïence
Pays-Bas - Début du XVIIe siècle

Beautiful bowl with symbolically depicted rooster in good condition, artefact Schermereiland (N-Holland). Early 17th century. Red-baked pottery. In the period 1600-1650 symbols were used on the pottery with a ringeloor as decoration. Later the symbols were abolished after mid-1660. The ringeloor is applied with the cow horn with white clay porridge. This bowl is particularly beautiful in enamel (lead glaze). Few signs of wear. At the top edge 2 small restorations, one of which is somewhat coloured. A padding on the back of bowl is visible on one of the photos, which can be seen in small part on the front in the acanthus leaf to the right of the rooster. To a small extent, the colour of the bowl has been touched up here. See all photos for your own perception. See images in books such as Loodglazuuraardewerk in Nederland by E.M.Ch.F. Klijn at the time connected to the Open Air Museum Arnhem. Als the book Amsterdam Ceramics. Object has been legally acquired.
