Paul Klee - Ege Axminster - Tapis (1)
This vintage Danish area rug is based on the 1926 painting by Paul Klee, 'Florentinische Villenviertel' (Florentine Villas Quarter).
Klee created this artwork in the early days of his Bauhaus period of study, although the style cannot unequivocally be classified as Bauhaus. It above all simply represents Paul Klee.
It is a work featuring many soft colour tones, and even more fantasies. Each individual part of the rug is different, but somehow they all manage to form a coherent whole.
The Danish rug legend Ege Axminster, who held a long-standing reputation in the field of modern rya rugs from the mid-20th century, created a series of by now highly coveted rugs based on a handful of selected artworks by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinski, Verner Panton, Jean Miotte, Corneille, Robert Jackson and others. Age Axminster applied various artworks by Paul Klee to his rugs.
It is made of 100% pure new wool.
It is marked at the back, the label has become detached from the rug over the years.
Meant as area rug, but naturally can also be used as wall art. Definitely worth it!
Dimensions:
140 x 200 cm.
The rug comes from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
It is well maintained and was cleaned professionally every other couple of years, the latest cleaning service dating from last year.
Please have a good look at the photos for the colours and imperfections.
