Swam Armchair by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen 2000 Denmark
Always current, even if born in 1958, the Swan armchair is one of the cult furnishings designed by Arne Jacobsen for the hall and rooms of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Unmistakable thanks to its characteristic curvilinear shape, it is still in production at Fritz Hansen and retains the charm of the best Nordic design. At the time, the perfect opportunity to experiment with new forms, Swan also appears today as a technologically avant-garde chair: a moulded casing in synthetic material on a swivel aluminium base, with a layer of foam that wraps the rigid shell, then upholstered in fabric or leather. Lounge chair ideal for the living room and home environments, it fits in well, with great personality, to all the waiting and meeting areas.
The lot on auction in blue/turquoise fabric is part of a series of 4 pieces found in a house in Milan. The armchair was purchased in the year 2000.
Very good condition of use. The armchair is perfectly solid and functional and shows very slight signs of age-related wear. Maker's mark present under the body.
