Baumgartner BFG 590 movement
The racetimer is driven by the BFG 590 flyback chronograph movement that was made in Switzerland in the 1960s. It is hand-wound and has a 42 hour power reserve. It has a kind of column wheel that controls the chronograph functions, 17 jewels, and runs on 21,600 vibrations per hour, 3 Hertz. The two pushers at 2h and 4h function conventionally, start, stop, reset and flyback restart. The pusher at 8h has a rather unusual function: apparently the chronograph counters for minutes and hours run continuously. So to make a time measurement, the two hands have to be set to zero by pushing the 8h pusher, before starting the chronograph.
