Joe Colombo - Kartell - Chaise (2) - Universale mod 4867

Joe Colombo - Kartell - Chaise (2) - Universale mod 4867
Italie - 1960-1969 - Plastique

These two "Universale" chairs are in good condition with minor signs of wear due to use and time, which do not affect their beauty and their uniqueness, as you can see from the photos that are an integral part of the description.

It is the first chair in the world made with injection printing using a single mould. The cylinder of the leg is cut in half to make it possible for chairs to be put near each other, the hollows at the sides allow the chairs to be stacked, since the rear legs of two more chairs fit into them. Finally, the central hole is a functional design feature, providing a handy grip for moving the chair, as well as allowing air circulation and water outflow if used outside.

Colombo's design career was cut tragically short in 1971 by a heart attack that killed him at the age of 41. Nevertheless, he was very prolific during his (nearly) ten years as a designer. Among his main projects, there are some of the most iconic designs of the 1960s, such as the Universale stackable chair (1965-1967), entirely made in polypropylene.

These chairs are ideal for high-class environments, both interior and exterior, and they will add another touch of uniqueness to your home.
