Description
SEYMCHAN Pallasite QUALITÉ SUPÉRIEURE Slice Amazing Tanslucent Olivins, lignes Widmanstatten, Cohenite - 48.7 g
Oblast de Magadanskaya, Russie

Beautiful slice of pallasite in which you can see different colours of olivines, from brown to yellow, including green hues.
Polished and treated for its preservation.

Of a great beauty since we can see cohenite patterns, very rare to see since it is a carbide with chemical formula (Fe, Ni, Co) 3C
Cohenite is unstable at temperature and pressure, becoming kamacite and graphite.

Cohenite was discovered in 1887, in the Magura Meteorite by the German mineralogist and petrologist Ernst Weinschenk, who isolated, analysed and name it

Pallasites contain approximately 50% metal (iron and nickel) and 50% silicates (in olivine form). They come from the inside large asteroids. Pallasites are one of the most beautiful types of meteorites that exist. They are named after the German zoologist and botanist Peter Simon Pallas, who discovered the first specimen of this type of meteorite in Siberia, Russia, in 1772.
