Attractive decorative plate by Kobayashi Shomin (1912-1994). He is considered one of the best metal artists of Showa period. Object signed by the artist in lower right corner.
Born in Aomori Japan, studied metal work from Kuroi Komin in Kyoto. His work was bought by the Japanese government and Imperial Household Agency at the Nitten Exhibition in 1940 .He continued exhibiting there every year, winning two major prizes in 1953 and 1963. He also served as a judge at the Teiten in 1940 .
Good condition with some slight patination due to the age.
