Rare and collectible edition of Lewis Carroll's classic work. It is a work of children's literature by the English mathematician and author, Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, written under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll.
The elegant drawings make this book possibly the most beautifully illustrated Alice in Wonderland edition. The book is profusely illustrated, featuring 48 beautiful colour plates, including frontispiece by the well-known and popular illustrator Margaret Tarrant.
Published by Ward, Lock & Co., Limited, London and Melbourne, ca.1922. Publisher’s original cream boards with black lettering, and blind-stamped rules to upper board and spine, oval frame with pastedown illustration of Alice and White Rabbit on front cover. Coloured endpaper.

Condition:
An Attractive Copy. The book is nice and tidy. Solid and firm boards. Light wear to boards’ corners with few faded marks. Internally; the book in fine condition. Previous owners’ name with neat ink on front free endpaper page. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. Text is very clean, and plates are bright (Please see pictures).
“Margaret Winifred Tarrant (1888 – 1959) was an English illustrator, and children's author, specializing in depictions of fairy-like children and religious subjects. She began her career at the age of 20, and painted and published into the early 1950s. She was known for her children's books, postcards, calendars, and print reproductions”.
