Stichting De Roos is a bibliophile publishing house, founded by Chris Leeflang, Charles Nypels and G.M. van Wees in June 1945. The name was also chosen as a tribute to the book editor and type designer S.H. de Roos. The aim of the foundation is to publish (illustrated) literary publications for bibliophiles in an edition of 175 numbered copies.
The first series of publications started in 1946; by 2020 190 titles had been published. The best-known (and most precious antiquarian) book of Stichting De Roos is ‘Regelmatige vlakverdeling’ (1958), written and illustrated by Maurits Cornelis Escher. Jan van Krimpen, Jan Bons, Willem Sandberg, Helmut Salden, Atie Siegenbeek van Heukelom, Harry N. Sierman, Kees Nieuwenhuijzen, Irma Boom, Alfons van Heusden, Dirk van Gelder and Simon Koene also designed publications for De Roos.
The archive is now in Museum Meermanno in The Hague; some larger (university) libraries have the full series of publications in their collections. (Cf. Wikipedia)
