‘Gaandeweg, de wekelijkse woensdagbrief van Johan Anthierens’ (1937-2000) was published between 4 April 1986 and 4 November 1987. The author was a Flemish critic, journalist, and satirist. Sharp and (you might say) ‘easy’ opinions and statements. He had (some) admirers and many enemies for his criticising remarks. Several of his journalistic attempts failed.
I have read many letters. An ‘antenna’ for language and events from the 1880s is requires. But then you will appreciate his special linguistic arts, language inventions and formulations, reflections and sharp remarks (eg. 37th letter, New Year's letter 1987, in which he writes about women, including two women who cross each other's paths and enter into a ‘chat’. You know the typ of situation. Author Maarten 't Hart is discussed (critically! Every person discussed is treated with criticism).
Size: 21 × 29.5 cm, unfolded 42 × 29.5 cm. High-quality paper. The letters have been folded three times, as they were sent in envelopes. Condition: fine. No perforations or spots, loose-leaf.
1st letter (4 April) + 58th letter are missing.
I assume - given the date - that 29 April 1987 is the 54th letter and 6 May 1987 is the 55th letter.
Letter no. 8 is included twice. So there are 58 letters in total.
Rare in this condition - almost complete.
