Authentic moldavite from the Czech Republic. Beautiful shape, excellent quality.
Moldavites are minerals that come from the fusion of material due to the impact of a large meteorite on the surface of the Earth. Moldavites are linked to the impact crater in Nördlingen Ries (Germany), from where they were expelled until reaching the vicinity of Vltava river, in the Czech Republic (hence their name), and their formation age is 14.5 million years.
They are becoming scarcer, particularly those of a considerable size, such as the one offered in this lot. Each piece of moldavite is different, so each one is unique and exclusive. A safe asset that gains value every day.
A fantastic specimen to add to your collection or to use it for jewellery making.
Moldavites belong to the ‘tektites’ (from Greek ‘tektos’, molten) family. They are natural glass objects that were formed by the impact of large meteorites on the Earth's surface. Tektites are the driest known minerals, with an average water content of 0.005%, which suggests that tektites formed under very high temperature and pressure conditions (similar to those needed to form diamonds).
With IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) Certificate of Authenticity.
