In this lot we are offering up for auction a beautiful slice of Sericho, a pallasite type meteorite found for the first time in Kenya in 2016. This is a meteorite in which we can appreciate olivines and a metal matrix on its polished area, as well as a fusion crust on the rest of it. Treated with resin and electrolysis to prevent oxidation as much as possible. Ideal size and quality for a good collection.
Pallasites are very scarce meteorites in which olivines are mixed in a metal matrix. They come from the mantle of great asteroids and they account for just 1.7% of the meteorites we know.
This pallasite was initially named Habaswein, after a city close to where the first fragments were found. Eventually, the meteorite was officially named Sericho, after the area in Kenya where the first impact took place.
A fantastic addition to your collection. Do not miss this opportunity!
All our meteorites come with an IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) certificate, so we guarantee for life the authenticity of all our meteorites. Buy with guarantees.
Regards and best wishes.
