In this lot we are offering up for auction an amazing slice of Sericho, a pallasite type meteorite which was first found in Kenya in 2016. This is a slice in which we can appreciate beautiful dark olivines distributed on its metal matrix. Treated with resin and electrolysis to prevent oxidation as much as possible. Ideal size and quality for a great collection or for a museum! One of the biggest in the world.
Pallasites are very scarce meteorites in which olivines are mixed in a metal matrix. They come from the mantle of great asteroids and they account for just 1.7% of the meteorites we know.
This pallasite was initially named Habaswein, after a city close to where the first fragments were found. Eventually, the meteorite was officially named Sericho, after the area in Kenya where the first impact took place.
A fantastic addition to your collection. Do not miss this opportunity!
All our meteorites come with an IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) certificate, so we guarantee for life the authenticity of all our meteorites. Buy with guarantees.
Regards and best wishes.
