French infantry musket model 1854/57, from the Mutzig armoury.
Mechanically sound French infantry musket with light oxidisation on the metalwork. The buttplate is in reasonable condition but has slightly more pitting/oxidation than the rest of the gun. The butt has been repaired on the right hand side and has had some woodworm that has been fully treated. The gun is marked MI in several places and the date 1857 is engraved on the side of the barrel. The tang is dated 1854. The percussion lock is engraved with Mre Imp ale de Mutzig. All fixings appear to be original (many with inspection marks) and in iron.
