Rare first edition (only one copy recorded in Italy, in the Biblioteca Centrale in Rome)
by Dutch lawyer Pierre Goudelin, born in Ath in 1550.
He began his studies at the age of 15, at the University of Leuven,
a city in which he carried out much of his flourishing activity, and where he was later appointed rector of the same University.
His writings were published posthumously, based on didactic notes.
Goudelin was among the first jurists to complement the study of Roman law with that of contemporary national law, addressing international law as a distinct field of study.

of the author.
On p. 333 there is the funeral oration dedicated to the author, who died on October 22, 1619, by
Maximilian Wittebort (note on the title page).
Beautiful coeval full parchment binding, with golden title and framed label on the spine.
Interior with sturdy sheets.
Even browning, more accentuated on some pages.
Beautiful title page printed in 2 colours (red and black) with a fine brand and a beautiful engraving depicting the author.
