The reader has asked the writer some questions, which the writer addresses in this letter. Despite the lack of time, Vinkenoog wrote two pages.
Simon Vinkenoog (Amsterdam, 18 July 1928 - 12 July 2009) was a Dutch writer, poet and recital artist.
At the age of 21 he launched the Dutch literary magazine Blurb. On 28 February 1966, Vinkenoog organised “Poëzie in Carré”, where kindred spirits such as Jules Deelder and Johnny the Selfkicker made their breakthroughs as poet and performer.
Over the years he increasingly developed himself as a performer who contributed greatly to the interest in poetry in countless performances. Because of the intensity and enthusiasm with which he spoke about topics such as sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, he became a personification of the hippie generation, which he remained until the very end.
