A Catalonian stock Spanish rifle, miquelet lock - Spain, 1792
The shape of the stock is called "a la Catalana" (in the Catalonian way).
Beautiful miquelet lock in perfect working condition. The sensitivity of the trigger is really impressive, that is the mark of a high quality mechanism.
The lock is signed by "Josef Llinar" in 1792.
On the trigger guard there is the mark of Gabiola who was a renowned gunmaker in EIBAR (Spain) at the end of the 18th century and early 19th century.
On the battery face is marked the name of the city of MALAGA.
I guess Malaga was the place of work of Josef Llinar or the city where lived the former owner.
A damage at the wood but it is a clear damage, quite easy to restore. The whole thing is still solid.
