This cabochon-shaped and polished Boulder Opal gemstone has beautiful, transparent colours, lots of purple, some bright green 'spots' and even some red. Especially movement of the gemstone makes this very visible.
Photographing sharply and exactly to reality is virtually impossible, very difficult and does not produce optimal results (due to photos taken with a smartphone). In reality, this Opal is very refined and beautifully varied in its colour play.
The so-called 'Dôme' (the slightly convex top side) on the cabochon is not perfect (see photos), as there is a 'dent' in the Opal surface at that spot. Grinding away this unevenness would have lost too much of the precarious and precious Opal, which is why the somewhat 'freer shape' in terms of surface has been chosen. Despite this 'imperfection', this beautiful Opal is immediately suitable for a cabinet by a craftsman / goldsmith!
