Bharat Sikka for Marie Claire Italia. Quality print.
Born in India, Karnataka, in 1973, Bharat Sikka started working as a photographer in his country before moving to New York to enrol at the Parson’s School of Design.
Bharat, who currently lives between New Delhi and New York, has gone from being a documentary photographer to one of the most sought-after fashion photographers. The Indian photographer has brought the opulence of fashion to villages, markets and homes, exploiting the contradiction between imagination and unreality in Indian everyday life.
He made his debut with the Indian Men exhibition at The Artist Space in New York, a series that explores the traditions of the Indian man, underlining the beauty and charm of a different culture.
His works have been the subject of several exhibitions in prestigious venues, including the National Museum of India (2008) and his images have been published in Marie Claire, New Yorker, I.D, Vogue, Vogue Homme International, Details and Time Magazine.
