Bert Dijkink, painter-illustrator-illustrator in Zwolle.
Actually, you can say that Bert has been drawing since he was able to hold a pencil.
Although he opted for an education in technology, in addition to drawing and painting in oils, watercolours and acrylics, he has always reserved ample space for a lot of self-study in the visual arts.
In addition to making technical and architectural illustrations and cartoons, Bert usually looks for the subjects for his paintings in the traditional craft atmosphere, such as church interiors, cityscapes, landscapes, farms, nudes and seascapes.
The painters of the so-called "Hague School" from the last half of the 19th century are particularly close to Bert's heart and although he does not want to be a follower of the old masters, this predilection will influence his work somewhat.
Lately, Bert has been strongly attracted by the charm of the typical old southern French and Italian cityscapes and that is why he occasionally wanders through an old city such as the unrivalled Bruges, which always provides him with a lot of inspiration.
Bert works traditionally, but still with a contemporary style.
In addition, Bert regularly draws cartoons, and recently Bert started drawing comic books, which is a completely new experience for him.
Bert: "Inspired by the romanticism of French Impressionism and the craftsmanship of the Contemporary Realists, I just try to let the subjects that appeal to me radiate that atmosphere as I experience it myself"
