Vintage Eagle Prestige fountain pen.
Red and grey
For those who do not know the brand Eagle Pencil Company, it is one of the first pioneering and most innovative companies, which laid the foundations of the modern fountain pens of our time. The cartridge filling fountain pen was introduced (U.S. Patent No. 426,758), a very simple design that had a brass nib and used glass cartridges (which later were also used by Waterman) inserted into a rubber nozzle part of a plug in the empty section of the barrel.
It was a fountain pen and pencil manufacturer founded in 1856 by Leopold Illfelder and Daniel Berolzheimer as the Vera-Bleistift-Fabrik (pencil factory) in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany. In 1861, the company opened a branch in New York. Daniel Berolzheimer died in 1858, and the New York office was opened by his son Henry, who partnered with his brother Martin and Joseph Reckendorfer.
Well, in this case it's an excellent Eagle item as well indicated by the clip on its cap. Its body is made of celluloid with a beautiful marble greyish colour with red veins. The details are gold-plated, both the cap rings and the clip, where we can read the name of the brand. The rigid nib is made of 14 kt gold, original. It leaves a smooth and elegant stroke, it does not release more ink than necessary.
Ready to be used, or collected with your pre-1945 fountain pens for example!
Buy with confidence and good luck with the bidding.
