Karl Blossfeldt (1865-1932) was an internatlonally famous German nature photographer, specializing in botanical photography.
His work is unique and is characterized by his extreme technical mastery of photography.
He specialized in macrophotography to enlarge his plant specimens and also designed a camera for this purpose. Consequently, everyday garden flowers are presented in such a way that their rhythmic and elegant forms are emphasized to the extreme and as such become art.
Blossfeldt wanted his work to act as a teaching aid and inspiration for architects, sculptors and artists. He was convinced that only through the detailed study of the intrinsic beauty present in natural forms, that contemporary art would find its true direction.
Together with "Urformen der Kunst" and "Wundergarten der Natur", "Wunder in der Natur" has become highly sought after and a real collector's item
