Equestrian night battle with burning castle - Oil on canvas (72 cm x 102 cm).
The painting depicts a night battle between rival cavalries with burning turreted structures in the background,
typical of Pieter Hofman (Antwerp, 1640 - Rome, 1692), in the opinion of D. Bodart.
Original canvas and stretcher, no retouching shown by Wood’s lamp.
The painting was purchased by Giulio Torta, antiquarian in Palermo (Italy) in 1990 and has since been preserved in my private collection housed in my residence.
18th-centaury golden frame upon request (price: €800).
