Rembert Dodonaeus - Stirpium historiae pemptades sex sive libri XXX - 1616

Botanical description of plants. Richly illustrated summary / collection of Dodoens’ earlier works. A complete edition appeared in 1583 and was reprinted in 1616 with improvements made by Dodoens himself just before he died in 1585. This final work is scientifically seen as Dodoens’ main work.

1 blank recto and verso, title page with blank verso, 14 pp. [introduction], 872 pp. of which pp. 19-51 with contemporary damage (bookworm), 66 pp. index, end and coat of arms (with signature) and motto of Plantin Moretus, 2 blank pp.

Several pp. have stains and / or restorations on the edges, other pp. are good considering their age. Binding was renewed in the past, but is now severely damaged. (See pictures)
