Banca del Popolo in Trapani is a joint-stock co-operative company. It was established by a public deed dated 6 May 1883. Banca Popolare di Vicenza acquired in 2000 the Banca Nuova di Palermo and the Banca del Popolo di Trapani. In 2002 the Banca Nuova di Palermo and Banca del Popolo di Trapani merged in the Banca Nuova with nearly one hundred branches in Sicily, Calabria and Puglia. The historical title has an important artistic value, the document was designed by Aleardo Terzi. He was born in Palermo on the 6th January 1870 and died in Castelletto sopra Ticino on the 15th of July 1943, he was an Italian painter, draughtsman and advertiser. Aleardo Terzi comes from a wealthy and cosmopolitan family: his father Andrea Terzi, is a famous Illustrator; his mother Rose Engel, of Swiss origin, comes from a family that was tied as well to the book industry; his brother Amedeo John Engel Terzi would become a scientific Illustrator, and for certain periods of their careers will work with Aleardo.
