Large piece in oil paint on canvas depicting a 17th century scene with two musketeers in a dimly lit room at a table with a wine jug.

This beautiful painting is by the Belgian artist Alfred DEFIZE (1873-1944).

With this atmospheric depiction, Defize rises far beyond his normal ability. The lighting from the top right gives the canvas an almost Rembrandt-like appearance.

In excellent condition with some minor age-related signs of wear. Comes in a beautiful frame. It was painted in 1903 and signed on the lower left. Dimensions with the frame: 88 x 70 cm.
