Henry Schouten was a Belgian painter, who is best known for his paintings of animals and landscapes. He was educated at the Academy of Brussels (1876-1881) and was strongly influenced by the animal painter Alfred Verwee. His paintings were very popular with the rich Belgian bourgeoisie. He exhibited starting from 1882 in Brussels with the 'Union des Arts'.
