This oval shaped iron sign was used to indicate a tobacconist's shop during the Fascist Era, when the Kingdom of Italy was dominated by the dictator Benito Mussolini. The sign shows the Savoy coat of arms with the royal crown, flanked by two fasces, the Fascist symbols. In ancient Rome, these bundles of wooden rods, bound with leather strips, sometimes including an axe, symbolized a magistrate's power and jurisdiction. It shows the following words: “RIVENDITA SALI E TABACCHI Nº 6”. Each part of the sing is still clear-cut, and the colours still perfectly vivid. Nowhere to be found a similar item in such good conditions!
