Offered is a beautiful work by Johannes Cornelius Mertz (Amsterdam 1819 - 1891 Brussels) "Pap voor de baby”. The panel is in good condition. The stretcher has a corner damage (rear right)
Signed by hand on the bottom right.
Johannes Cornelius Mertz mainly created interiors with figures. Mertz was born in 1819 in Amsterdam and died in Brussels in 1891. Throughout his life, Mertz mainly created genre and figure pieces, some of which are known. He was an apprentice of J.W. Pieneman. In 1845, he joined the Kon. Academy in Amsterdam. He lived and worked in Amsterdam and Brussels.
