Posh ladies on the terrace.
A beautiful painting by John Bévort, colourful and signed on the bottom right.
It is a cheerful scene, tea thinking ladies under a Prunes in bloom.
The painting beautifully demonstrates how John Bevort has applied thick layers of oil paint and has also applied the oil paint with his palette knife.
The painting and frame are in very good condition.
John Bévort was born on 30 November 1917 in Utrecht, and he died on 31 January 1996 in Schoorl.
Oil on canvas. Height 70 x width 80 cm.
Total dimensions including authentic frame. Height 88 x width 98 cm.
Bevort settled around 1960 in Schoorl in the province of Noord-Holland and is known as ‘The painter from Schoorl’. He also died there in 31 January 1996. He had expositions in Europe and the USA. He was teacher of well-known painters like Gerard Ernens and Peter Brouwer
Bevort mainly became renowned for the use of his palette knife while making realistic landscapes, beach and sea views and hunting scenes. He also gained recognition through his expositions in Europe and the USA.
What Bévort could do with the palette knife was very special indeed. He knew how to work with the canvas, no matter how directly he put on the paint.
