Tutankhamun or Tutankhamen was a Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of ancient Egypt. His original name was Tutanchaton, for politico-religious reasons he later changed his name to Tutankhamen, which means: "Living image of Amon". His throne name of Nebcheperure means: “Lord of the manifestations of Ra”. His fame is primarily due to the rare fact that his tomb, found by Howard Carter in 1922, turned out to be virtually intact. The grave - small for a pharaoh- contained over 3500 artefacts, which were still intact.
