Size: 71 x 100.5 cm.
Size with frame: 88 x 120 cm.
This large painting depicts the scene of Venus and Cupid from the famous masterpiece Il Baccanale by Titian Vecellio preserved at the Prado Museum in Madrid and dating back to 1525.
The work in question only captures Venus’ Venus, interpreting with great skill Titian’s soft and silky painting.
In excellent condition. It has undergone professional restoration with relining and application of an expansion stretcher. The frame is entirely hand-sculpted and probably dates back to the 1700s. In excellent condition, except for the horizontal bar at the bottom, where the innermost frieze is missing, as pictured. Despite the break, the frame is a piece of high quality that completes and embellishes the painting.
