Theunis (or Anthonie) Jacobs, born in 1606, was the forefather of a dynasty of publishers specialising in nautical charts. After Jacob Colom, he was the second to publish an illustrated pilot book in 1644. He died in 1650 but his activity was continued by his widow and his kids Caspar and Jacob. The business was sold in 1711, after Casper’s death. Numerous atlases were published by the family in the second half of the century. Koeman, Jac 59.
