Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, was born on September 22, 1976 in Rio de Janeiro. When he was playing for São Cristóvão at the age of 15, he became aware of top national clubs. In 1993 Cruzeiro EC, a well-known association from Bela Horizonte, signed him on. In his first season, he scored twelve goals in 14 games.
His international debut in the Brazilian national team followed a year later. After participating in the 1994 World Cup (USA), Ronaldo signed a contract with the Dutch top club PSV Eindhoven. His impressive record: 54 goals in 57 games. In 1996 Ronaldo switched to FC Barcelona for the equivalent of 15 million euros, where he stayed only one year.
Ronaldo was the top scorer in the Primera División straight away. He also received awards as a world footballer (1996 and 1997) and as Europe's footballer in 1997
