Medieval Crusader Era silver seal ring. The raised bezel is decorated with a cross and half-moon (crescent) symbol, decorated shoulders and plain ring band.
The crescent moon in ancient times was a sign of the power of the Byzantine state but it also has many spiritual meanings: a symbol of the baptistry in which the Church is baptised, the cradle of Bethlehem or the Eucharistic cup.
