Roman bronze figure of a Roman Legionary Eagle (Aquila).

The eagle was a powerful symbol to the Roman military. With each Roman legion a special eagle-bearer (aquilifer) had the honor of carrying the Legionary Eagle standard into battle and to guard its existence.

Size: 30,1 x 19,6 x 10,8 mm
Weight: ca 12,15g

Condition: good solid condition, signs of wear consistent with age and use, see images for own impression.

Purchased by the current owner from at a Dutch antiques fair in 2020, previously in collection of T.M.
