Seiko introduced the Alpinist wristwatch in 1961 with the intention of it becoming a reliable timepiece for Japanese mountain climbers and other sports enthusiasts alike. The production of this watch was important because it was the first real attempt at making a sports watch by Seiko. The Champion 850 series are the second generation of Alpinist model and known as partly named for the 850 movement used (thespringbar). This Alpinist is a very good sample of Seiko Champion 850 series (85899). All original except new strap.
→The watch works with Seikosha 851 Japan manual-wind movement.
→Original signed crown.
→Case is 35mm (excluding crown) x 43mm (lug-to-lug). The lug width is 18mm.
→The watch comes with a green canvas strap in photos fits up to nearly 21cm wrist-size.
→Condition notes: Clean back. Case only have a few visible sign of use and platin error on under of the case, otherwise it is good. Dial has only a few tiny marks. Crown has wear but original signed. Cleaned acrylic glass. Watch is functional and keeps time. Photos are part of the description. Please look at them carefully.
→No box and paper.
