This large in-folio "Wall" map is an original 1802 “Double” copper engraving.
Rare Wall Map of Northern Italy, originally created on 4 large sheets which, in this case, are joined in two huge sheets representing the entire geographical area of Northern Italy.
It is one of the most beautiful and rare editions, specially created on commission, to be used for the second Napoleonic Italy campaign.
This map has also been honoured, as well as studied and revised by the "Real Topographic Office of the French Armée de Réserve", under the supervision of Napoleon.
A beautiful, rare and huge map, published in Milan and Venice in 1802, with a slight, original and homogeneous colouring, and with updated and well defined geographical and topographical details at every point.
Condition: the map is in quite good as shown in pictures, with minimal defects, such as light water stains in some top areas of both maps (as pictured).
Both maps are folded several times. One shows inaccurate folding, which however does not affect the map at all (see pictures)
The overall size of both joined maps is approximately: 170 x 114 cm
The single sheet overall dimensions are approximately: 170 x 57 cm
NB: this is an uncommon map, 100% complete, as you can see.
It is quite hard to find since is currently unavailable in any antiques gallery. The few available copies are kept in some State libraries.
