XL pendant light by Cosack Leuchten.
Very large lamp, perfect for above a dining table. As the shade is large and designed quite away from the light bulb, even with a traditional light bulb it could support bulbs top to 100 watts which is rare for acrylic lamps.
Typical 1970s design and finish: acrylic glass shade and chrome accents.
With a pull down system.
The disc on top of the shade is in a combination of metal and plastic with a chrome paint layer.
The ceiling canopy has two layers: a back plastic inner cup and a chromed metal outer cup.
Marked in the ceiling canopy.
The lamp takes 1 E27 light bulb.
Diameter of the shade at its widest point: about 50 centimeters
Height of the shade with cover: about 33.5 centimeters
Diameter of the opening at the bottom: 37.5 centimeters
Height from upper rim ceiling canopy to bottom lamp not stretched out: about 89 centimeters
Height from upper rim ceiling canopy to bottom lamp fully stretched out: about 172 centimeters
Massa: 1.9 kilograms
Fair to good.
This is a used lamp of around 45-50 years of age with a number of signs of age and use.
First and foremost the beautifully curved and large acrylic shade is undamaged: no tears, no heat deformations, no colored staining, no cracks.
There are however numerous short and long scratches on the outside. Acrylic is a soft plastic that easily scratches. These scratches are visible when the lamp is off but not when the lamp is on.
The inside of the shade is in excellent condition.
The chrome coated cover on top of the shade has visible wear: the coating has started to come off, showing the (plastic?) layer below. There are also a number of lines visible.
The pull down system works very well with the right amount of resistance. Where it connects to the lamp the black cover over the three wire has come undone, showing the three colors wires. This could probable be easily repaired with some black tape cover the wires. Also replacing the pull down system is always an option.
The chromed ceiling canopy has a bit of faint staining and blemish but no loss of the chrome layer and is still perfectly in shape.
