d' Aquino Tommaso
D. Thomae Aquinatis Doctoris Angelici Complectens Expositionem in omnes D. Pauli Apostoli Epistolas, et eiusdem Sermones...
Apud Iulium Accoltum
(1), 233, (1), 48 c.
Large folio - 37 x 26 cm.
Stunning copy of the Epistles of
St. Paul and Sermons.
It belongs to the very rare Omnia Opera
Each tome of opera omnia deals with complete topics in their own right.
On the last photograph there is a summary of the topics, referring to each of the 18 volumes of the work
(taken from the first volume).
Fine and original coeval full leather binding on wooden slats, adorned with refined embossed decorations (animals, armour, drums, bows, quivers, scimitars, etc), all enclosed within elegant geometric frames.
The covers of the copies of this Opera Omnia (here are offered 5 tomes out of 18),
While presenting the same figurative elements, they were each bound with different geometric design, marking the exclusive and precious uniqueness of each copy.
Traces of antique parchment used for the binding on the counter-plates.
Abrasions and defects to the covers, especially where originally there were likely closing hooks.
The binding still looks firm and solid.
A thin stain runs through the front plate.
Recurring woodworm holes to the covers, expertly repaired.
Spine with 5 raised bands, with evocative coeval paper manuscripts and old archive placing.
Interior in very good condition, with thick sheets and wide margins.
Elegant and refined typographic setup.
Sporadic browning and recurring punctiform traces of extinct woodworm, present throughout the text.
The text is still perfectly readable (see photos).
Beautiful typographic brand (motto: sic crede)
at the end of the Epistole. Colophon on the last sheet.
Monastic ownership stamps.
Beautiful watermark, with religious symbol, in the centre of numerous white sheets.
In good overall condition.
