In addition to etching, Johannes (Job) Graadt van Roggen was also an excellent painter. He mostly painted outside. His preference was beach, sea and dunes pieces. From his hometown of Bergen, he travelled through Europe to capture beautiful places.
Here, he was in Dubrovnik, Croatia. From the old town with the famous red roofs, we see Fort Lovrijenac on the rocks. In the background, on the left, we see a piece of city wall. He knows how to depict the contrast with the blue Adriatic Sea. Graadt van Roggen was known for these colourings. He called himself a "luminist."
Dubrovnik is also the place where some scenes of the famous series "Game of Thrones" were shot.
The painting comes in a very beautiful frame and in is good condition.
Due to the size of the painting, shipping is only possible within the Netherlands. The costs for this are 25 euro to be borne by the buyer. Or you can also come and pick it up.
