Beautiful colourful floral still life from the master of the genre. Germ de Jong is perhaps the most poetic painter of the Bergen School. He is a member of the select group of Dutch painters who worked in Paris for a short or longer period of time in the 1920s. Back in the Netherlands in 1933, he settled in Schoorl near Bergen, where he, from that time on, mainly dealt with what can be called quietly his speciality: the floral still life.
They are mostly colourful bouquets set up in a spontaneous brush strokes in full, striking colours. They earned him recognition, publicity and in 1956 an overview exhibit at the Stedelijk Amsterdam. Exhibitions in the Teylers Museum and Museum Kranenburgh, among others, would follow later.
In 2016, Christie's auctioned a floral still life by Germ de Jong for 3,750 euro.
The work will be sent carefully packed and by registered and insured mail.
