Giovanni Cuspiniano, in German Johannes Cuspinian (Schweinfurt, 1473 – Vienna, 19 April 1529), was a German humanist, poet and diplomat. His masterpiece is Consules and Caesares, biographies of the Roman consul and Emperor, the latter continued until Maximilian I and completed in 1528.
In the humanistic circles of his time, such as the Sodalitas litteraria Danubiana, he was active as a poet, but above all as a curator of ancient texts.

Johannes Oporinus, pseudonym of Johannes Herbster or Herbst (Basel, January 25, 1507 – July 6, 1568), was a Swiss humanist, physician and publisher.
The son of the painter Hans Herbst, he worked for Johann Froben, Basel's leading printer of the early 16th century.
Looking at the cover page of an edition by Johannes Oporinus, the quality of its typographic brand is striking. It shows the mythological lyre player Arion of Lesbos, which is supported by a dolphin on the sea. There are multiple variants.
