Iconography: The figure of the Blessing Christ (Pantocrator, which means "Almighty") dominates the iconographic space. The Christ image is a half-bust represented with His right hand raised in a blessing gesture. The fingers position, beyond the evident meaning, also emphasize the indissoluble mystery of God’s incarnation. The fingers pose has a double meaning: the three united fingers symbolise the Holy Trinity (Christ is one of the three divine persons), while the other two open fingers indicate the two natures of Christ, the human and the divine, forming the Christ Greek monogram (Jesous Christos).
The left hand supports the Gospel, open on a verse of John (Apocalypse): “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8,12)
