Edgard Darimont was born in the city of Hasselt (Province of Limburg in Belgium) and got his tuition as advertising artist in Hamburg (Germany) between 1920-1925. There he designed several advertising posters for the world famous Carl Hagenbeck Tierpark. Darimont was clearly influenced by the talented German poster artist of the era, Ludwig HOHLWEIN. He came back to Belgium and lived in Antwerp, where he created some of the very best posters for the Zoo.
