Cartier - Limoges - Assiette (2) - Porcelaine
Spectacular pair of trinket bowls to put jewels at night or ashtrays by the French jewellery maker Cartier, made of fine French Limoges porcelain with the edge painted in gold, the background in glossy black, and a golden panther in the centre of the piece.
They belong to the PANTHERE line, the iconic emblem of the brand. The origin is found in a sample of jewellery that Cartier presented in their boutique at Rue de la Paix between May and June 1914.
The invitation featured the image of a woman with a panther at her feet, created by artist George Barbier. This image of a powerful woman captivated jeweler Louis Cartier.
The illustration marked a milestone in Cartier's history because the panther figure that appears in it became an emblem.
Size: 8 x 8 x 2.2 cm
